OSAC Meeting Notes – January 2014

Study Session:

Local Park and Recreation & Nonprofit Grant Awards: Staff and Committee discussed possible Grant awards based on the December grant presentations. Staff recommended that some entities (cities, towns, park & rec districts) take a year or two off from grant requests, as they’ve had awards in recent years.

Planning & Zoning Site Approval of Open Space Capital Projects: Staff presented an overview of the seven projects in the next few years that were approved by the Planning Commission – Planning reviews the location and extent of any public entity’s development proposal.

2014 Study Session Topics: There was a general discussion on study session topics and scheduling – Communications in April and Budget in July and August.

Regular Meeting:

2014 Jeffco Open Space Goals and Priorities: Tom Hoby presented a listing of items including Organizational Priorities (Flood Recovery, JCOS Master Plan, Communications & & Community Involvement Plan, CAPRA Accreditation, Administration & Education Services – 4 projects listed), Park Operations – 4 projects listed, and Park Planning & Construction – 13 projects listed.

2014 Jeffco Open Space Master Plan: Tom Hoby presented the final draft of the plan. PLAN Jeffco and a representative from the County Health department spoke in favor of the plan. The plan was approved for presentation to the Commissioners.

Local Park and Recreation & Nonprofit Grant Awards: The awards for 2014 were approved.

Re-configuration of the Ponderosa Room will begin in January. The February OSAC meeting is cancelled, but OSAC will be meeting with Boulder City Open Space and possibly Boulder County Open Space on February 8.
