Another Spring Break by David Montgomery

 

A native Coloradan and avid artist since childhood, David Montgomery spent his formative years beneath the looming presence of Pike’s Peak, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and later the remote environs of the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado.

He strives to commemorate the amazing vistas that Colorado provides, and he is dedicated to environmental activism to preserve Colorado’s open and wild spaces. David has been living and painting in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado for over thirty-five years, and his work has been shaped by the monumental vistas and pristine environs of the rural area at the headwaters of the Rio Grande along the Continental Divide.

David received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Colorado State University. Additionally, he has received national recognition by American Artist magazine and has exhibited twice in the Forbes Gallery in New York City. He is affiliated with the Plein Air Artists of Colorado and the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, and was recently chosen to create two large landscapes for Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, which are installed in the historic Richardson Hall on the campus.

Clare Scott is an emerging artist with a primary focus on plein air painting.Using pastels as her preferred medium, Clare enjoys painting the intersection of the farming community and urban life that she finds unique to Boulder County.

 

She studied art at Northern Illinois University and the Art Students League of Denver. Clare has participated in juried shows in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska, and is a member of the Pastel Society of Colorado, Plein Air Artists of Colorado, Cloud Appreciation Society and Plein Eire of Ireland.

The Golden Giddyup is a community sponsored bike event and trail stewardship program to be held in Golden, Colorado on September 18, 2016 on Jeffco Open Space parks. Founded after the 2013 floods wrecked towns and trails from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, the Giddyup is the product of all of the volunteer hours spent rebuilding our parks. Jeffco Open Space and the Jeffco Outdoors Foundation have partnered with the Giddyup to support Golden, Colorado’s first mountain bike race.

Blair Hamill is a professional landscape painter whose work can be found in juried shows around Colorado, in The Old Gallery in Allenspark, the Studio Gallery in Estes Park, Ft. Collins Museum of Art and numerous small shows in non-traditional spaces around the Denver metro area.

His pieces all begin as plein air studies, as Blair uses a method of sketching and plein air painting a scene, then bringing that reference material back to the studio and painting a larger piece from his studies.

Cheryl St. John is a fourth generation Colorado native with a great appreciation of nature and the environment, and the preservation of both. Born and raised at the foot of the Rocky Mountains to parents who enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping, Cheryl was introduced at an early age to the beauty of the Colorado mountains and developed her own love for the outdoors that influences her artwork today.

 

Cheryl studied fine art and design at The Rocky Mountain College of Art and at the Colorado Institute of Art. An award-winning artist, Cheryl is a member of Oil Painters of America, the Art Students League of Denver, Plein Air Artists of Colorado and a Signature member of the American Impressionist Society.

Patty Voje grew up on a small farm and spent her youth surrounded by rolling hills, farm animals and woodlands. She now spends weekends driving through the countryside to search for the open land of her youth and takes any opportunity she can to immerse herself in nature painting.

Patty paints in the alla prima style, with a “painterly” approach: large brushes loaded with paint that is sloppily yet thoughtfully laid down. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Outdoor Painters of Minnesota and American Women Artists.

With bold strokes, bright colors and a pallet knife, Linda strives to create visually energetic and emotionally strong paintings. Her goal in painting is to express and create a sense of place, energy and joy that one can dive into and stay for a while.
