Trail Ratings explained:

Least Difficult: Typically the Least Difficult trails will have average grades of less than 3% and elevation gains minus losses of 100 feet.

More Difficult: The More Difficult trails will have grades of less than 10% and elevation gains minus losses of less than 1000 feet.

Most Difficult: The Most Difficult trails will have grades greater than 10% and elevations gains minus losses greater than 1000 feet. These trail ratings will help bikers and equestrians, especially, gauge the difficulty of a trail before starting off and possibly finding themselves in trouble mid-trail.

Trail Etiquette: Be aware & expect other trail users. Use a friendly greeting to gain attention when passing. Pass on the left. Yield to traffic traveling uphill when possible. Step off the trail when you are on your cell phone. Read the JCOS guide: Trail Etiquette

Trail Connections to other Parks:

1. Dedisse Trail connects to Dedisse Park with Evergreen Lake & Nature Center (Denver Mountain Parks).

2. Wilmot Trail connects to local Evergreen roadways.

Forest (Ponderosa pine) & Meadows.

Rock formations: the park derives it name from the rock outcrops known as "The Three Sisters" and "The Brother," seen along Sister's Trail.

Scenic View Trail - overlooks the old ranch house area.

History:

The land that originally comprised the 770 Acres of Alderfer/Three Sisters Park was acquired through several land donations and purchases between 1977 - 2005. Jefferson County Open Space acquired 279 acres from the Alderfer Partnership, 57 acres from the Spencer Wyant family, and 440 acres from the State Land Board.

Alderfer/Three Sisters Park - Wild Iris Loop Trail Flood Damage

The west section of the Wild Iris Loop is closed from Buffalo Creek Road to its juncture with Evergreen Mountain West due to flood damage.
